Long-term use of acetaminophen during pregnancy associated with ADHD in offspring -- More studies are required:
"The current observational analysis suggests that longer-term acetaminophen use during pregnancy may not be ideal, as it may increase the risk of ADHD in offspring. The researchers speculated on three possible mechanisms for this effect, such as neonatal exposure resulting in changes in the levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor; exposure interfering with maternal hormones that are related to fetal brain development; or acetaminophen interrupting brain development by induction of oxidative stress, leading to neuronal death. All of these proposed mechanisms require further study. The researchers concluded that because of the observational nature of the current findings, they “do not provide definitive evidence for or against a causal relation between maternal use of acetaminophen and ADHD.”
